NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — A special exhibit, "Tribute to Local Veterans," will be held on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Newtown Historic Association's Callahan Research Center at 100 Mercer Street.

The one-day-only show will feature a display of artifacts presented through the eyes of Newtown natives who went off to war, some of whom did not return home.

Compiled by the late Mike Donovan, a past NHA member and history buff, the display will include more than 100 photos of local soldiers who fought in World War II. Also on display will be letters written by soldiers containing their private thoughts and moments as they experienced war.

New to the tribute will be more than 300 World War II military shoulder patches from the U.S. Army, Army Air Force, Marines, Navy and Coast Guard. They represent a variety of battles and war campaigns that took place across Europe and Asia. A special focus is provided through the eyes of 12 Newtown natives and soldiers, not all of them coming home.
