FORBES ROAD, Pa. — On Armed Forces Day, May 20th, the PA Veteran Farming Project launched its new website, pavetfarms.org. The launch is in conjunction with the 10th anniversary of the establishment of Pennsylvania’s leading non-profit organization helping veterans and military grow successful farms and agribusinesses.
Site visitors will see an updated map of veteran owned farms, agritourism destinations, and food and beverage makers throughout the Commonwealth. This tool helps consumers buy local and veteran-grown, raised, and made in PA. Veteran owned farms can be easily identified by the new logo featuring the tagline “They fought; now they farm.”
Board chair and US Air Force veteran Rhonda Smith: “Those who have served in our military continue to find purpose in feeding their communities. With the launch of pavetfarms.org, consumers seeking local, farm-fresh food who also want to support military families can find farms near them.”
Veterans, military, and their spouses will find a wealth of resources on the site for both beginning and established farms. On both PC and mobile, the one-stop shop boasts information on educational events, funding, business planning, state and federal ag resources, and the Troops to Tractors and Bee Bootcamp programs.
The PA Veteran Farming Network thanks Horizon Farm Credit and member farms for financial support for the 10th anniversary project.
