The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Camp Hill is seeking energetic, enthusiastic, self-motivated people with the required experience to work as Corrections Food Service Instructors.  If you have the required experience and are looking to start your food service career with an exciting public service agency, the Department of Corrections wants to hear from you! 


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position functions as lead worker by assigning, participating in, and reviewing routine and specialized tasks performed by inmates in the areas of pre-preparation, production, service, and baking.  You will ensure proper control over inmates by enforcing custody and security regulations and inspecting all food service areas, equipment, and food for conformance with established safety and sanitation standards.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: 

  • Full-time employment (40 hours per week). 
  • Schedule available: Swing shift which is 4:30 am - 12:30 pm/11:00 am - 7:00 pm, rotating days off. This will be discussed at interview. 
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $43,022.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirement: 
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
